Hand-stitched embroidery and beadwork bring a distinct side of Abby’s practice, learned from her older sister in his childhood and continued till date. In his artistic practice, either beadworks or embroidery is the last layer he adds to the body. In the first place, he applies this technique to censor nudity due to religious-related prohibitions and homophobia back in Iran. Still, on the other side, he utilizes this methodology to also amplify the femininity characteristic. The notion of adding this layer is to convey the indistinguishable feeling of gender definition to these masculine bodies, which arise from the delicacy and tenderness of hand-stitched embroideries.
